The Sounds of Sinnish

Updated: 6/19/03

Here are some sample sentences in Sinnish. They are all in .WAV format. Note that they are recorded using a bad microphone with Sound Recorder, so the volume is low and I don't guarentee the sound quality.

rat 'lakem oduku ruzh.
My name is lakem
(Formal word order, literally "By lakem they address me." lakem means 'poet' and is my Sinnish name)

yu amazhda taruhmewu.
May you cry out like a thunderstom.
(A Raptured blessing, literally "It is hopeful that you cry out in ecstasy in the manner of a thunderstorm".)

uzhkaruhmar ulakem ko uzhbarabar ulakem.
I am a poet of the body and a poet of the soul.
(A quote from Walt Whitman, literally "I poet the body and I poet the soul.")

uzh ropex sodara utoam. ruzh chotechus.
I can eat glass. It does not hurt me.
(See the I Can Eat Glass Project. Pretty close to literal translation, actually)
